MOD BOX
This 584 sf addition added a bedroom, closet, bath and home office to the 60's
ranch without disruption to the existing home. The owners have a love of
mid-century design and appreciate a clean, modern aesthetic. Sustainable
building strategies included high efficiency windows and large southern windows
for passive solar gain in the winter. The new bedroom suite is filled with diffuse
light and framed views to the adjacent woods. Thoughtful detailing included
geometric shower with corner window, custom sliding mirrors and floating
cabinetry at bath vanity, dramatic cantilevered roof at porch, interior transoms,
build-in bamboo clad bench and projecting window boxes.
