This three story 1980's contemporary had many opportunities to explore when embarking on an update, including solar orientation of windows and a land locked kitchen. The design strategy included reducing west and increasing south facing windows and doors, eliminating walls and updating finishes with a warm and natural palette. The end result is a beautiful kitchen that can handle a crowd, open views throughout the main living areas, improved natural light and air flow, improved storage and framed views to the landscape.
The before image at left corresponds to upper right image at cook top looking towards living. The new kitchen has abundant hidden storage including: a deep storage wall with hidden appliance garage and corner pull out shelves, as well as a pull out butcher block, mixer shelf and recycling storage. Amenities that were added included walk-in pantry, bookshelf and family message center.
Additional renovation efforts included a re-clad of the three story home, redesign of exterior patio and railings and new cabinetry and finishes in living room.
